Amber Malmgren President

Stephanie Watrous Treasurer

Annie Pinyero Social Committee Chair

Nick Abdelnour City Liaison

Rich Loudon Goals & Objectives

John Hankerson Secretary

  • The attendees were asked to introduce themselves and share how long they had been part of the community.
  • John Hankerson reviewed the minutes of the 2023 Annual Meeting. Highlighted items included:
    • 2022 income and expenses and proposed 2023 budget.
    • Budget would benefit from new members to the HOA.

No questions were raised about the minutes.

  • Stephanie Watrous presented the treasurer’s report summarizing 2023 income and expenses and the proposed 2024 budget.  Some discussion about:
    • The total dollars in checking and savings accounts.
    • Slight decline in revenue projected for 2024.
    • Recurring expense decline because of lower landscaping costs and slight decreases in taxes.
  • Rich Loudon discussed goals from last year and new goals for 2024 which included:
    • Discussion of SLACK as a source of community information and part of the neighborhood watch effort. Only HOA members can access SLACK to post or review information there.
    • Goal to update Covenants (which was not accomplished in 2023). The HOA is not a traditional HOA and so the Covenants lack legal weight.
    • Goal to continue social events for the community.
    • Consideration of a change to the name from Overdale HOA to Overdale Community Association.  Discussion included several concerns about losing the impact of the term HOA and the history of the HOA at Overdale
    • Comments that the park is a unifying element for the community: a place where we can gather and celebrate and enjoy being together.
    • The Board has discussed a goal of painting and repairing the mailbox stands throughout the neighborhood and is soliciting bids to do the needed work.  The group suggested that this is an opportunity for the Board to reach out to non-members to join to help this work to be done.
  • Amber explained the process and timeline to vote to approve the minutes as well as for Board members.
    • The HOA is seeking two new Board members to help expand the Board’s efforts to make this an even greater community.
  • Other comments:
    • The Board used to do a welcome letter and materials for new home-owners and we will pick that effort up again in 2024
    • Craig, a former Board member commented that he has boxes of HOA archives at his home that he has worked to organize but more work still to be done.
